CULPEPER'S Orchard: Line-up / Musicians - Cy Nicklin / lead vocals, rhythm & acoustic guitars, percussion - Neils Hendrikson / lead guitar, piano, lead vocals, harpsichord - Michael Friss / bass, organ, flute, two finger piano, percussion - Rodger Barker / drums, percussion. Culpeper's Orchard was a Danish rock band, formed in 1969 by Cy Nicklin, vocals and guitar, Nils Henriksen, guitar, piano, choir, Michael Friis, bass, organ, and Rodger Barker drums. Having achieved great success as a live band debuted on the LP in 1971. The record, whose title is merely synonymous with the band's name, presents a mixture of progressive psychedelic rock, folk and country where the vocal harmonies during the quiet songs reminiscent of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Already in the next release Second Sight in 1972, Barker was replaced with the eternally seeking Gudman Ken on drums, without significantly changing soundscape. Satisfied Mind is possibly a fairly traditional country tune, but i! t was an unusually popular sing-along number, including on the first Roskilde festivals. A few months after they released their third album, Going for a Song, where Niels Vangkilde, guitar, Niels Tuxen, steel guitar and Tom McEwan, drums had been replaced Henriksen and Gudman. In 1976 they changed their name to Culpeper and toured extensively, but released only one LP under that name. In retrospect, was a band that a few years, recruited names like Nils Henriksen, Niels Vangkilde, Thomas Puggard-Müller ...

Blatentsaine "Ruska"

www.facebook.com Blatentsaine is a folk music ensemble formed by four young women. Concert kantele, recorders, violin and accordions create a sound world that's unique. The highly original style is further re-enforced by the musicians' original compositions, based on traditional Finnish and Scandinavian pelimanni music. Although the name Blatentsaine -- picked by the ensemble from a Karelian lullaby -- literally means "newborn", this band shares a long history of making music. The members had been playing together in various duos and trios even before their new group, Blatentsaine, was born in 2004 as a student ensemble at the Sibelius Academy Folk Music Department. Academic year 2004-2005 saw Blatentsaine concentrating on a polska performance entitled Palo. The group composed the music for this full-length dance production, parts of which were seen and heard at the Tanssin Taigaa evening at Kulttuuriareena Gloria. Blatentsaine has been increasingly busy recently, playing gi! gs at Finland's biggest folk music festivals, as well as at clubs and private functions. Their versatile repertoire also has enabled visits to schools, where they have introduced children to the world of folk music. On the 2007 Folklandia Cruise, Blatentsaine was named the Kantele Ensemble of the Year by the Finnish Kantele Association (Kanteleliitto).
